Release Notes

Release 2.2 adds templates for incremental maintenance and includes the following enhancements:

  1. Improvements in the use of ksh93 in AIX and Linux and generalization of the vdmgen code generator
  2. Conversion of the directory structure to be compliant with Unix best practices
  3. Extensions and refinements in the manifest structure and the ability to support many families of objects
  4. The ability to maintain two tiers of dependent structures, e.g. Data Mart and their MQTs
  5. New templates for MQT definition compliant with Cubing Services, incremental maintenance of data marts and MQTs, support for DB2-maintained MQTs in deferred mode and various new utilities

The following templates from (VDMGEN) release 2.1 will be supported:

  1. Build templates
  2. Full refresh templates
  3. db2succeed option - for suppressing failure of drop commands that fail
  4. Informational referential integrity check and other utilities

The following capabilities from (MQTGEN) release 1 will be supported:

  1. User-maintained MQT maintenance based on the VDM Current/History model
  2. Load and attach table partitioning option (developed to address DB2 release 9.5 lack of support for partitioned indexes)
  3. Recasting template based on dimension versioning and insert-only History base fact
  4. MQT activation and deactivation templates
  5. Initial load templates have been replaced by the refresh templates
  6. Meta-Template expansion for dimension hierarchy encoding (pending)
  7. Automatic Merge Statement constructor
